These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of webRoid (“the App”), developed and operated by Caffeinated Math, a subsidiary of HJJB, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. About the App

webRoid provides a local R computing environment on Android devices using webR, a WebAssembly distribution of R. The App allows you to:

  • Write and execute R code
  • Create and save R scripts
  • Generate statistical visualizations
  • Install R packages from the webR repository
  • Work entirely offline after initial setup

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal or professional purposes, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Redistribute, sell, or sublicense the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of all R code, scripts, data, and files you create using the App. We do not claim any rights to your content.

Your content is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

4. Third-Party Components

The App incorporates webR, which is licensed under the MIT License. R itself is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Your use of these components is subject to their respective licenses.

When installing packages, your device connects to the webR package repository (repo.r-wasm.org), which is operated independently.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will meet your requirements
  • The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Results from the App will be accurate or reliable
  • All R packages will be available or compatible

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Caffeinated Math, HJJB, LLC, and their officers, directors, and employees from any claims arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the App or Play Store.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
